Mediation
In mediation, I support two or more individuals to talk through their conflict in a private and non-judgmental atmosphere and co-create mutually acceptable outcomes. My role is to support each participant to express their perspective and needs and to build understanding with one another. From this ground of understanding, solutions are often easier to discover.
Facilitation and Dialogue
Working with groups, I am a space holder, a listener, and occasionally, a task-master. Whether you are looking to build community, work through conflict, or simply get something done, I support respectful, open, brave and constructive group communication. I pay close attention to the balance of participation and power dynamics that can silence less privileged voices and may obscure what most needs to be discussed. I support the group to stay on track and to explore newly discovered paths. I facilitate dialogue about identity, religion, politics and culture, holding space for participants to hear new perspectives and find common ground, but also build understanding around true differences in values, identity and life experience.
Conflict Resolution Training
My experiential trainings provide skills to navigate difficult conversations in a variety of contexts, from the dinner table to the conference room. Topics include conflict theory and analysis, active and empathetic listening, asking questions, mindfulness and conflict, and understanding our conflict communication styles.
